About Us

Alay Buhay Community Development Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to service with, for and towards the marginalized, allowing them to give life to their aspirations through the realization of the potentials that lie within them.

Alay Buhay is a product of the tireless effort of the men and women who have seen the dehumanizing effects of poverty and wanted to help in alleviating the inhuman condition of the marginalized sector of our society. 1986, an opportune time of drastic change in the Filipinos lives after the success of the People Power, marked the inception of the organization, initially called as Alay Buhay Educational Foundation, Inc. The foundation aims to give hope to poor Filipino children to aspire and work for a better future. This desire is made concrete through the Educational Assistance Program (EAP), which allowed Alay Buhay to grant disadvantaged children and youth with access to formal schooling through financial aid. Furthermore, Alay Buhay provides assistance to academic institutions through the Adopt-A-School Program (AASP) by donating school bags, school uniforms, shoes, socks, books, umbrellas, raincoats, and other school supplies. Understanding the need for a more holistic form of community engagement, Alay Buhay began its microfinance program and services in 1999 in selected communities in Quezon City.

In 2005, Alay Buhay is transformed into a Community Development Foundation that benefits students, women micro-entrepreneurs, and disadvantaged communities through its existing programs. In addition to the educational (EAP and AASP) and the opening of additional branches of the microfinance programs and services in Marikina, Manila, Caloocan and Rizal Province, Alay Buhay also assists both the rural and urban communities through the various programs in Community Empowerment, Enterprise Development, and Capacity Building & Organizational Development. This allows the Foundation to raise community awareness concerning social and environmental issues, develop and promote the various products of microfinance partners and people’s organizations being assisted, teach and/or enhance the business, organizational and social skills of the recipients of different programs and services.

Armed with these various programs and services, we, the men and women behind Alay Buhay continue to strive, with trust in God, in order to put into action our commitment to work for the economic, social, and spiritual upliftment of more and more Filipinos guided by its vision towards poverty alleviation.
